The Right to Farm or the Right to Harm?
Airs on KNLC Channel 24 8/02 at noon and KNLC Renewable Energy Channel Channel 24-2 8/04 at 8:00 p.m. Wes Shoemyer explains that Missouri law guarantees rights to family farmers; but the so-called “Right to Farm” would extend these rights to corporations. That could give advantages to CAFOs (confined animal feeding operations) and huge corporations that are not even headquartered in Missouri.

Green Speaker Series At Maryville
Aviram Rozin. Founder of Sadhana Forest will give a free talk on ecological and humanitarian efforts in developing countries. Aviram Rozin and his wife Yorit moved from their native Israel to India in 2003 and founded the non-profit Sadhana Forest (SF). In addition to performing reforestation, SF teaches sustainable living, increases food security through ecological transformation, reclaims wasteland to productivity, and restores the water cycle and raises the water table, all of which help raise the living standards of the local inhabitants. This Green Speaker event is sponsored by the City of Town & Country’s Green Team Commission. Reusable grocery bags will be given away at the talk.

LEED for Schools Certification in a 21st Century Learning Environment. Building sustainable schools creates a healthy environment in which students can learn. Many schools utilize the LEED for Schools rating system as a goal-setting and performance metric for sustainable schools. Singing Bowl Therapy Workshop: Finding Your Center through Sound and Vibration
Presented by Vickie Jenny. 9am-12noon. $55. Singing Bowl Sound Therapy combines the elements of sound and sensation to create a unique healing environment. Hand-hammered metal bowls of various sizes and tones are carefully placed on the body and gently played. The receiver is encouraged to enter a state of deep relaxation through the meditative tones they hear and the calming vibrations they feel coursing through the skin, muscles and tissues. In this three hour introductory workshop, we experiment with a wide variety of singing bowls, taking time to listen deeply and mindfully feel vibration. Vickie Jenny has been a massage therapist for over 10 years in the USA and Europe and currently has her own massage and sound therapy practice. She completed her Singing Bowl Sound Therapy training in her current home of Innsbruck, Austria, where this type of therapy is very popular. Sustainability as a National Strategic Imperative
Retired U.S. Marine Corp Colonel Mark “Puck” Mykleby will provide an overview of his work developing a new American grand strategy. This effort began in July 2009 when Mykleby and Navy Captain wayne Porter were asked by former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to consider what a new national grand strategy should look like. He and Porter determined that sustainability needs to become our national strategic imperative if we, as a nation, are to meet the challenges and pursue the opportunities emerging in front of us as we continue into the 21st Century. Passive House: The Idea

5th Annual Sunset Hills Triathlon
